Essential oils you need to add to your beauty list
Essential oils have been used for thousands of years to help relieve stresses on the body and mind. But with so many to choose from, which oils are the best for your beauty routine? As well as experiencing the benefits of essential oils when visiting spa hotels in Yorkshire, there are some simple ways to use them every day at home. Here we take a look at just some of the essential oils that you should be adding to your bathroom shelves in 2017.
Lavender Oil
Lavender oil could be classified as a ‘super oil’ if there was ever such a term! Lavender has been used and recommended to relieve symptoms of stress and emotional anxiety, whether that be in a diffuser, or placing a few drops on a handkerchief to sniff as a relaxant, there are many ways to incorporate it into your life.
Other uses for lavender oil include:
• Pain Relief
• Acne
• Blood Circulation
• Digestion
Eucalyptus Oil
Eucalyptus oil is made from the leaves of the eucalyptus tree, native to Australia, but is now grown and cultivated all over the world. The leaves are dried, crushed and distilled to release the essential oil.
The essential oil is widely used as an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial product. As for this, placing the oil on cuts, burns or wounds is a fantastic, natural alternative to those you can find in the pharmacy. It is also worth noting that any oil other than lavender and tea tree should be diluted with carrier or grapeseed oil, as if they are applied neat they can cause burns or irritations to the skin.
Tea Tree Oil
Everyone knows of the brilliant skin renewing properties of tea tree oil, but what about its other uses? Tea tree oil is a great remedy for cold sores – apply the oil directly on the sore three to four times a day (avoid getting it in your mouth, as it’s toxic)
If you have a cold and need to clear your sinuses, add a few drops of the tea tree oil to a bowl of hot water. Cover your head with a towel and let the tea tree infused steam relieve your symptoms.
